OLD MAN AND THE OLD WOMAN [2]. AKA and see "Growling Old Man and Grumbling Old Woman (The)." Canadian, Reel. Canada, Prince Edward Island. A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Samuel Bayard collected almost exclusively from southwestern Pennsylvania fife and fiddle players, but occasionally added tunes from his collection from fiddlers further afield whom he had contact with. One was Lorin Simmons, from Prince Edward Island, who played the first strain of the reel slowly, then gradually accelerated, with the second strain always played rapidly.
