OLD TENTH, THE. AKA and see "Gallant Sixty-Ninth," "Gals of Sixty-Nine," "Irishman's Shanty." American, March (6/8 time). USA, southwestern Pa. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Bayard (1981) identifies this as one of the "Welcome Home" family of tunes. The title perhaps refers to a place in a set or performance list, or a military unit.
