OLD RED. Old-Time, Two-Step. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. Both parts contain irregular measures. "Old Red" was recorded by Mississippi fiddler and potato farmer Hoyt Ming with his band The Pep Steppers, whose members consisted of his family: Hoyt (fiddle), wife Rozelle (guitar) and brother Troy (mandolin). They recorded several sides in their single recording session for Victor Records in 1928 in Memphis, Tenn., but were "rediscovered" in the early 1970's and began performing again.
