LAME FISHERMAN, THE (An Iasgaire Bacac). AKA and see "Emlagation Reel," "Girl with the Laughing Eyes (The)," "Paddy Killoran's (1)," "Sweeney's Dream." Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (O'Neill/1850): AABB (O'Neill/Krassen). The reel was recorded under the title "Sweeney's Dream" by the fiddle duo of Paddy Killoran and Paddy Sweeney in 1937 in New York. However, Killoran later played the tune as "Emlagation Reel" for an RTÉ Radio broadcast in a medley pf "Old Dudeen (The)," "On the Road to Lurgan," and "Emlagation Reel." Emlagation was the name of Killoran's home town, near Ballymote, County Sligo. The tune is associated with Killoran's playing, but whether he composed it or not is an open question.
