ON YONDER HIGH MOUNTAINS. English, Air (3/4 time). E Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The air appears in The Cobblers' Opera (1729) and Silvia (1731). Chappell (1859) says this is a ballad tune, though the words have been lost. It may be the air to the song "Over hills and high mountains," which Chappell says was very popular.
