MUNSTER REEL. Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'B. The tune appears in the first volume of Carol/Carl G. Hardebec's Collection of Jigs and Reels (Dublin, 1921). Although Hardebec called it a reel, the tune plays like a polka, but Hardebec transcribed all his reels in 2/4 time. In his preface in the volume, he sourced most of his tunes to two players, John Duffy and Sean O'Gorman, but did not indicate from which player he obtained which tune from.
