LEATHER APRON. AKA and see "Oh How They Frisk It," "Under the Greenwood Tree." English, Air (6/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Leather Apron" is a song composed by Charles Coffey, 1731, for his opera The Devil to Pay, or The Wives Metamorphos'd. The melody was an older one, borrowed from John Playford's Dancing Master of 1679 (appearing as "Under the Greenwood Tree"), where it appears in common time (altered to 6/4 in later editions).
