LORD WELLINGTON [1] (Tiarna Wellington). AKA and see "Galway Rambler (The)," "Paddy Finlay's Favourite." Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Breathnach): AABB (Allan's). Breathnach (1963) finds the first part of this tune to be the same as O'Neill's "Fairy Hurlers (1) (The)" and "Walsh's Favourite." The reel would also appear to be cognate with "Duke of Leinster (1) (The)." The earlies appearance of this tune is as "Lord Wellington's Reel" in the 1883 music manuscript collection of County Leitrim musician Stephen Grier.

Source for notated version: accordion player Sonny Brogan (County Sligo/Dublin, Ireland) [Breathnach].

Printed sources: McDermott (Allan's Irish Fiddler), c. 1920's; No. 67, p. 17. Breathnach (CRÉ I), 1963; No. 199, p. 77.
