HAP-HAZARD. AKA - "Haphazard." English, Country Dance Tune (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'. The tune and country dance directions were first published in London by John Playford in his Dancing Master, 7th edition (1686). It was retained in the long-running Dancing Master series when John's son Henry took over publication for the next several editions. John Young, heir to the Playford publishing concerns, also retained it through the 18th and final edition of the Dancing Master (1728). Another London music publisher, John Walsh, printed it in his The Compleat Country Dancing Master (1718) and in subsequent editions of his volume.
