PATSY GEARY'S. AKA and see “Kimmel's Jig (1),” “Micky Callaghan's Jig," "Yellow Rose (The).” Irish, Jig. The first strain of the melody is that of the familiar American song “Yellow Rose of Texas,” albeit set in 6/8 (or 12/8) time. County Tipperary professional fiddler Patsy Geary was one of Dublin fiddler John Kelly's (1912-1987) mentors. Kelly was originally from a musical community in County Clare, and Geary not only tutored him there but frequently played house dances with him as well.
