WEE WILLIE'S STRATHSPEY. Scottish, Strathspey. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Accoding to the note accompanying the strathspey, it was composed by the son of editor Keith Norman MacDonald (Skye Collection, 1887), James Porteous, only nine years of age. He is perhaps named after fiddler-composer James Porteous (1762-1847), who is lightly regarded nowadays but who contributed a couple of lasting tunes to the reportory (see "Miss Rogerson's Strathspey ALA "South of the Grampians).
