APPLES IN WINTER [3]. AKA and see "Rolling Down the Hill (2)." Irish, Reel (whole time). A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Kerr assigns an Irish provenance to the melody, perhaps having retrieved it from Irish violinist biography:R.M. Levey's 1858 collection. The tune belongs to a family of tunes that includes "Rolling Down the Hill (2),” "Kerry Lasses (3) (The)," "I sat in the Valley Green," “Mountain Lark (1) (The),” “Old Wheels of the World,” "Wind that Shakes the Barley (1) (The)."
