WEST CLARE RAILWAY, THE. Irish, Reel. A composition of West Clare fiddler Martin “Junior” Crehan. The West Clare Railway [1] was a narrow-gauge line that opened in 1887 and closed in 1961. It ran from Ennis, via numerous stopping-points along the West Clare coast to two termini, at Kilrush and Kilkee.
