PETER BAILIE'S WIFE. AKA and see “Market Town (The).” Scottish, March (6/8 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Kerr): AA’BB’ (Perlman). Peter “Pate” Bailie (1774-1841) was a well-known Scottish fiddler who published a collection of original tunes around the year 1825. The term ‘wife’ (or sometimes ‘second wife’) often refered to a fiddler's beloved--his instrument.
