PINE TOP [1]. American, Reel. USA, southwestern Pa. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. A hybrid tune. The second strain is the same as the once very popular tune "Jay Bird" (Jaybird), while the first strain seems derived from the French-Canadian "Old Man and the Old Woman," "Old Jakey Buzzard" or a similar cognate tune (Bayard, 1981).

Source for notated version: fiddler Marion Yoders (Greene County, Pa., 1961) [Bayard].

Printed sources: Bayard (Dance to the Fiddle), 1981; No. 143, p. 79.
