Biographical notes

J.D. Kennedy came from a musical Cape Breton family. His brother, Danny Michael Kennedy was father of fiddler Willie Kennedy of Mabou. Gordon MacQuarrie published a number of Kennedy's tunes in his Cape Breton Collection (1940). His tunes are still being played and recorded, and "Inverness Jig (The)" and "Catherine MacIsaac's Wedding Day" remain popular.
