HUGAR MU FEAN. Scottish, Air (3/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). The air (as "Hugar mu fean") appears in cellist-composer James Oswald's Caledonian Pocket Companion, Book 11 (1760, p. 113), as an air with variations and a jig attached at the end. It was also printed in London by Samuel, Ann and Peter Thompson in their reissue of Burke Thumoth's Forty Eight English, Irish and Scotch Airs with Variations (1785, pp. 44-45). The air and variation sets were entered into the 1788 music manuscript collection of flute player Thomas Molyneaux (Shelburne, Nova Scotia).
