MISS GORDON OF LESMORE. Scottish, Strathspey. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. John Glen (1891) finds the earliest printing of a tune by this title in Robert Ross's 1780 collection (p. 9). In Glen's 2nd volume the tune was credited to Daniel McLaren, whose name is found in the lists of subscribers to Niel Gow's first several collections, where he is identified as a musician living in Edinburgh. McLaren published his own collection in 1794.
