COLONEL CAMPBELL OF MONZIE'S FAVORITE. Scottish, Strathspey. C Aeolian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Glen (1981) finds the tune first in print in Joshua Campbell's 1778 collection (p. 68). The title may refer to Colonel Robert Campbell of Finab and Monzie, M.P. for Argyllshire who purchased the estate of Inverawe House in 1765. He died in 1790 and was succeeded by his son, Lieutenant-General Alexander Campbell.
