PULLET [1], THE. AKA and see "Sporting Boys (1) (The)," "Boys of Portaferry (The)." Irish, English; Reel. B Minor ('A' part) & D Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Kennedy, Raven): AABB (Kerr). Kerr identifies the tune as Irish, but David Taylor (1992) believes the root tune of this and related melodies to be a Scots tune called "Pigeon on the Gale (The)" (not to be confused with the modern similarly-titled "Pigeon on the Gate").
