PRINCE'S WELCOME INTO INVERNESS. Scottish, Strathspey and Air (whole time). G Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDD. John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of this tune in print in Alexander McGalshan's 1780 collection (p. 19). The melody also appears in Philadelphia music publishers Benjamin Carr's Caledonian Muse (1798) and John Aitken's Scots Musical Museum (1797).
