RATHLIN ISLAND. Irish, Reel (cut time). A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Rathlin Island, County Antrim, is one of several islands between Ireland and Kintyre, Scotland. It served as the refuge of Scottish patriot Robert Bruce in the year 1306, and it is said that it was on Rathlin that he saw a spider rebuilding its web that suggested to him to consider trying again to struggle towards a successful rebellion against the English.
