DEIL AMANG THE MEALMONGERS, THE. AKA - "Devil amang the Meal Men." AKA and see "Bishop (3) (The)," "Valcenciennes." Scottish, English (originally); Jig and Country Dance Tune (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune appears first in print in the Thompson's Compleat Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 4' (London, 1770) under the title "Bishop (3) (The)," followed by an appearance in John & Thomas Preston's ' (1794) as "Valcenciennes."
