HONORABLE MISS ELLIOT. Scottish, Slow Strathspey. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Johnny Pringle (born c. 1770), it appears as the first tune in his 1801 collection, a volume he dedicated to the Honorable Miss Elliot, a member of a prominent Borders family (probably a daughter of the family of Sir Gilbert Elliot, for whom see "Annotation:Lady Minto's Favourite"). A fiddler-composer, he lived in Edinburgh at No. 16 Rose Street. A subsequent collection was also published by him, date unknown.
