USHAG VEG RUY (The Little Red Lark). Scottish, Slow Air. Scotland, Isle of Man. G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. “Ushag Veg Ruy” (Little Red Lark) originally comes from Kiaull yn Theay, a book of Manx songs and dances, and is also printed in Ree ny Marrey. A lullaby, there are different versions of the song, one based on the Scots "Craigieburn Wood." The lyric begins:

Ushag veg ruy ny moanee doo,
Ny moanee coo, ny moanee doo,
Ushag veg rny ny moanee doo,
C'raad chaddil oo riyr 'syn oie?

Little red bird of the black turf ground,
Of the black turf ground, of the black turf ground,
Little red bird of the black turf ground,
Where did you sleep last night?
