REEFER'S HORNPIPE. AKA and see "Ned Kendall's Hornpipe (2)," "Reel du chauffeur." American, Hornpipe. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. The melody was entered into the 1859 music manuscript collection of W.E. Eames, a musician probably from Philadelphia, Pa., as "Reefer's Hornpipe." Dance instructions for Reeper's Hornpipe appear in George Washburn's The Ball-Room Manual of Contra Dances and Social Cotillons (1863).
