DRUMMORE'S RANT. "Cooper (The)."Scottish, Reel. G Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDD. Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of this 'double-tonic' tune in print in Robert Bremner's 1757 collection. However it had earlier appeared in manuscript form (with the "Drummore's Rant" title) in David Young's copybook, labelled "A Collection of Country Dances Written for... The Duke of Perth" of c. 1734. This manuscript is sometimes called the Drummond Castle Manuscript as it was (and is) preserved at Drummond Castle, Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland.
