WATTIE LA(I)NG. AKA and see "Lifting of the Linnen (The)." Scottish, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDD. The tune appears in the Drummond Castle Manuscript (in the possession of the Earl of Ancaster at Drummond Castle), inscribed "A Collection of Country Dances written for the use of his Grace the Duke of Perth by Dav. Young, 1734." It also was entered by Young into his MarFarlane Manuscript (c. 1740, No. 99), compiled for his patron, Walter MacFarlane of MacFarlane.
