GREEN ISLAND, THE (An Oilean Glas). Irish, Hornpipe. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune appears under the title "The Old Hornpipe" in an anonymous musician's music manuscript collection dated 1862, probably of Northern U.S. origin. Given this, it is likely that the source for both the musician and O'Neill was one of Boston publisher Elias Howe's publications. Therefore, the provenance may not be 'Irish'.
