MILTON HORNPIPE [2]. AKA and see "Gypsy Hornpipe (3)," "Queen's Hornpipe (1)." English, Hornpipe. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). From the c. 1841 music manuscripts of Joshua Burnett (Worsborough, near Barnsley, south Yorkshire). The book was discovered in a violin case with an instrument by Martin of London and contains a number of melodies, chiefly ʻcut-timeʼ hornpipes, with several local titles (such as "Worsbrough Hornpipe," "Hesley Hornpipe," "Sheffield Rant" and "Sheffield Hornpipe"). "Milton Hornpipe (1)" from the Lawrence Leadley manuscript (also a Yorkshire musician), is a different, unrelated tune.
