REEL DE LA PISTROLI, LE. Canadian, Reel. Canada, Newfoundland. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by Newfoundland fisherman and fiddler biography:Émile Benoît [1] (1913-1992). It is often repeated that "La Pistroli" was the name of a television show from New Brunswick, and there was a show called "Pistroli" that aired in the late 1970's on a Moncton station. However, in 1980 Benoît was Newfoundland's representative with a touring Acadian entourage "Le Pistroli en Atlantique," a group consisting of popular and traditional francophone musicians, who gave concerts in the Atlantic provinces. It seems likely the tune had more to do with the touring group.
