MISS LOUISA CAMPBELL'S DELIGHT. AKA - "Miss Louisa Campbell's Strathspey." AKA and see "Lady Mary Menzie's Reel (2),” “Lucy Campbell's (1)." Scottish, Strathspey. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDDEEFF. John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of this tune in print in Alexander McGlashan's 1780 collection. Glasgow fiddler-composer Joshua Campbell included the tune in his 1789 collection along with a number of other tunes with the Campbell surname in the title. There is no particular reason to suspect that Louisa Campbell was a relation, and its possible he simply was drawn to 'Campbell' tunes with his last name, or collected them to forward clan honor. The Edinburgh-based McGlashan printed the tune some nine years prior to Campbell, but there is no composer attribution in either volume.
