MR. RONALD CRAWFORD. AKA – “Mr. Ronald Crawford’s Strathspey.” Scottish, Slow Strathspey (2/4 time) or Lament. F Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC’DD. Composed by Nathaniel Gow (1727-1807), to be played “very slow, with expression.” It is possible the person of the title is the same Robert Crawford honored in Joshua Campbell's "Mr. Ronald Crawford of Freskiehall's Strathspey" (see note for "annotation:Mr. Ronald Crawford of Freskiehall's Strathspey" for more. Jack Campin [1] notes similarities between Gow's piece and D.(probably Donald) MacDonald's "Lament on the Death of Jane Duchess of Gordon."
