REEL DE MONTRÉAL [1]. AKA - "Reel de Sherbrooke," "Sherbrooke Reel." French-Canadian, New England; Reel. G Major ('A' part) & D Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Miller & Perron): AA’BB’ (Songer). The British hornpipe "Navvie on the Line" is cognate in the first strain. Tunes by the name "Reel de Montréal" were recorded by harmonica great Henri Lacroix in 1928, and Montreal fiddler Joseph Allard in 1930; however Allard's reel is a different tune (see "Reel de Montréal (2)."
