RIDING ON A LOAD OF HAY. AKA and see “Mrs. Ramsay of Barnton (2)," "Tim Guiheen's Polka.” Irish, Polka. E Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Silberberg): AABB' (Carlin). A West Kerry polka, called “Port Dálaig (4)" after the musician who played it, is similar, especially in the first strain. The tune was also in the repertoire of Kerry fiddler Denis Murphy (1910-1974). It appears to be an adaptation of the Scottish strathspey “Mrs. Ramsay of Barnton (2),” printed in the Athole Collection (1884).
