ROCK, JENNY ROCK. Bluegrass, Breakdown (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The 'B' part accompaniment is basically an 'E' Minor chord until the ending 'G' chord. It is no relation to the early jazz tune "Rock, Jenny Rock" by the Georgia Strutters, recorded in 1927. The bluegrass breakdown was fiddled by Red Herron on the 1981 tribute album "The Clayton McMichen Story" but there is no evidence Georgia fiddler Clayton McMichen (1900-1970) ever recorded "Rock, Jenny Rock." See the related tunes "Wild Horse" and "Rich Mountain."
