ROOM FOR COMPANY. English, Country Dance Air (6/4 time). G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The air appears in Musick's Recreation on the Lyra-Viol (1652), Pills to Purge Melancholy (1707 & 1719); the original ballad dates to Elizabethan times. Chappell (1859) says a later version of the air was known as "Hunting the Hare."
