ROW POLKA, THE. English, Polka (2/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABC. By Jullien (1812-1860), who had a Christian name from each of his thirty-six godfathers. A famed and flamboyant personality, he was a renowned composer of fashionable dance music, and also brought the classics to mass audiences. "He conducted Beethoven with a jeweled baton handed to him on a silver platter" (Groves).
