The march first appears in Glasgow publisher James Aird's Selection of Scotch, English, Irish and Foreign Airs, vol. 4 (1796, p. 49), and in J. Watlen's Collection of Celebrated Marches & Quick Steps (Edinburgh, 1798, p. 2).
