ROARING HORNPIPE, THE. England, Triple Hornpipe (3/2 time). England, Wales. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Roaring Hornpipe is one of the dances that were noted by William Jones (c.1729-95), Llangadfan, Montgomery, enclosed in a letter to Edward Jones (Bardd y Brenin), the author of Relicks of the Welsh Bards (1784). It is an intricate longways set dance for a party of six, and was discovered among the papers of Edwards Jones, harpist of Prince Regent, and was published in 1936 under the editorship of Lois Blake and W.S.
