ROUT [2]. THE. AKA and see "Royal Quickstep (1)." English, American; Country Dance Tune or March (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABA. The tune appears as "The Rout" in two of Boston publisher Elias Howe's mid-19th century collections, but was originally called "Royal Quickstep (1)." Under the latter title it appears in late 18th century publications and musicians' manuscripts in England and America.
