WAITING FOR THE FEDERALS. AKA and see: "Federal Hornpipe," "Get Away from the Federals," "Old Coon Dog," "Running from the Federals," "Seneca Squaredance," "Shelby's Mules." Old Time, Breakdown (2/4 or cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Ford): AA'BB' (Bain). The tune is usually known as "Seneca Squaredance." Ira Ford's title, "Running from the Federals," seems like a condensation of the titles "Run Boy Run" and "Waiting for the Federals."

Ringer would sing or play on the harmonica the melodies of fiddle tunes he had learned when growing up in Arkansas).
