MISS WHITEFORD. Scottish, Reel or Strathspey (cut time). C Major (Riddell): B Flat Major (Stewart-Robertson). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Surenne): AAB (Cranford/Holland, Gow, Kerr, Stewart-Robertson). John Glen (1891) finds three tunes by this name in old collections. The earliest appearance of the first tune in print is in Neil Stewart's 1761 collection (p. 69), the second tune in John Riddell's 1782 second collection (p. 57), and the third in Robert Ross's 1780 collection (p. 15).
