FAREWELL TO WHISKEY [2]. American, Air or March (4/4 time). D Major ('A' part) & A Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Bayard): AABB (Sweet). Bayard (1944) found no other versions of this tune (which is no relation to the Scottish "Farewell to Whiskey (1)", attributed to Niel Gow) in musical literature and he concluded the title had been misapplied. The version he took from an informant was well known in western Pennsylvania.

Source for notated version: Mrs. biography:Sarah Armstrong, (near) Derry, Pennsylvania, November 18, 1943 [Bayard]. Armstrong was a strong player and contributed several tunes to Bayard's volumes.

Printed sources: Bayard (Hill Country Tunes), 1944; No. 72. Sweet (Fifer's Delight), 1964/1981; p. 60.
