SIEGE OF ENNIS [2], THE. AKA - "Siege of Ennis (The)." Irish, Set Dance (2/4 time). D Major ('A', 'B','E', and 'F' parts) & G Major ('C' and 'D' parts). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDDEEFF. The first parts of the tune are recognizable as the melody popularly sung to “High-Ho, theRattlin' Bog” (“Bog Down in the Valley (The)”) while the next two parts are the Scottish tune “Farewell to Whiskey (1),” followed by the tune used for “Spanish Lady.” Since the “Siege of Ennis” is the name of a dance rather than a tune, several tunes have been employed as vehicles for the steps.
