SET D'EN BAS DE QUÉBEC (deuxieme partie). AKA and see "Reel du petit minou." French-Canadian, Reel. A Major ('A' and 'B' parts) & E Major ('C' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'CC'. This tune, recorded by Montreal fiddler Isidore Soucy (1899-1962), though a reel, is rhythmically very similar to a polka. See also Montreal fiddler Jean Carignan's "Reel de Portneuf" which uses melodic material from Soucy's tune. Soucy own “Reel du petit minou”, recorded by him over twenty years later, shares the first strain with his “Set d’en bas de Québec.”
