REEL LASALLE. AKA - "Reel de Lasalle," "Reel de Paddy." AKA and see "Mrs. Spens Monroe." Canadian, Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. This jig, a version of "Mrs. Spens Monroe/Monro," was recorded twice by Montreal fiddler Joseph Allard; first, in 1931 as "Reel Lasalle", and again in 1936 as "Reel de Paddy." The jig has a Scottish provenance, having been printed by Glasgow musician James Aird in his Selection of Scotch, English, Irish and Foreign Airs, vol. 4 at the end of the 18th century. Versions of the jig also have currency in Irish traditional music.
