REEL DU COMMOS DE BARRE (Bartender's Reel). AKA and see "Reel du petit minou," "Set d'en bas de Québec - 2ème partie." French-Canadian, Reel (cut or 2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'CC'. "Reel du commis de barre" (Bartender's Reel) was recorded by Montreal fiddler Joseph Allard in 1931 for Victor Records. It was later recorded by Isidore Soucy as "Set d'en bas de Québec - 2ème partie." Jean Duval (2018) finds the first strain cognate with "London Hornpipe"/"Navvie on the Line." See also Jean Carignan's two-part version of the piece, "Reel de Portneuf (2)," learned from his mentor Allard.
