LADY BETTY COCHRANE'S REEL [2]. AKA - "Lady Betty Cochran." Scottish, Reel (cut time). B Flat Major (Stewart): C Major (Muhollan): D Major (John Gow). AAB (Gow): AABB' (Mulhollan). Standard tuning (fiddle). John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of the tune in print in Neil Stewart's Collection of the Newest and Best Reels or Country Dances (variously dated 1761 and 1775, p. 58) and Robert MacIntosh's 1783 collection (p. 32). London music publisher John Gow (Niel Gow's son) included it in his Favorite Collection of Slow Airs, Strathspeys and Reels (c. 1804).
