POND CREEK POLKA. American, Polka (cut time). G Major ('A' part) & D Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. From the playing of Scioto County, southern Ohio, fiddler Jimmy Wheeler (1917-1987), who had the tune from the playing of his father. It seems likely the tune is named after a local watercourse, Pond Creek in Scioto County, near where Wheeler lived, although there are 'Pond Creeks' in many states.
